Creature Boom Arm Rig
Shown below a picture of the animatronic skeleton and the puppeteer locations. Jim Boulden is in the rear controlling the figure's height and swing, Doug Hudson is rod controlling the puppet's right arm, Len Levitt is puppeteering the left arm. Len is looking down and to the left at a monitor which shows him where the puppet is "in frame". The animatronic skeleton moved along the corridor seen in the rear of the shot.

Animal Makers created the scary skeleton sequence. This sequence was originally slated for Doug Beswick and Ray McIntyre's visual effects department. The vfx plate was already pretty full with hundreds of shots added since the beginning of production. They asked if we could handle a chase scene with Anna Faris and Regina Hall. Animal Makers built the animatronic skeleton puppet in very short time, and had it working on the set.

One of the interesting rigs used is the "Creature Boom Arm Rig" (shown below). This rig allows for counter-weighting the figure and controlling height, spin, and moving along a distance (by being built for a common doorway dolly). The creature has several mounts including one by the blue bearing in the right side of this picture. Very smooth action that allows a human sized figure to take direction without seeming "clunky".
